Southern France

This last week, my town in the US got hit with some serious snow. I am talking thigh deep snow, wind blowing, freezing cold winter weather. That made me feel lucky for my snow free, sunny weather. Only southern France can give you a sunny 65 degree day in the middle of winter. Southern France is known for more than warm weather.

Southern France is known for lots of industry, beaches, culture, and sports.

One big industry is called Airbus. It is a large company that manufactures airplanes. Not just any airplanes though. These are large and innovative airplanes.

The beaches here include the beaches of the Atlantic ocean and the Mediterranean. Many towns, for example Narbonne, are towns that are on the beach. Many tourists go there during vacations to enjoy seafood and the ocean.

Southern France is rich in culture. The residents even have a specific accent. The most traditional foods here include foie gras, oysters, a special bean and pork stew, and a herb sausage. Toulouse is even know for its brick architecture. Its know as the "Pink City."

Sports here are big thing. Especially rugby. The "Stade Toulousain" is the team that is the most well known in Southern France. They have won the French championship 17 times!

Here are some photos of Southern France:
